OARS, Outreach And Resource Service for Women Veterans

Posted by WSVBA | May 10, 2015 | 0 Comments

OARS, Outreach And Resource Service for Women Veterans, is asking for your support on May 5, 2015, a one day fundraising event sponsored by The Seattle Foundation. This is an event where every dollar can be matched, so we can continue serving the women who served. OARS for Women Veterans

OARS, Outreach And Resource Services for Women Veterans, is an organization dedicated to serving the women who served. OARS provides assistance to all veterans, but focuses specifically on addressing the particular needs and issues of female veterans. Women comprise approximately twenty percent (20%) of all service members in the Armed Forces, yet are an underserved population when they return to civilian life. OARS staff and board members are female veterans who have experienced this firsthand. OARS provides guidance to navigate the landscape of traditional resources for health, education, employment, and housing benefits.

What sets OARS apart is that the organization strives to create a community for female veterans through social events and personal enrichment opportunities (such as an annual brunch, a series of art classes, and other events). By creating a community of women who understand and support each other, combined with knowledge of how to access available resources, the veterans that OARS serves will build a solid foundation for a fulfilling life beyond their military service.
