The Washington State Veterans Bar Association (WSVBA), a Minority Bar Association of the WSBA (http://www.wsba.org/Legal-Community/Minority-Bar-Associations), and the Gonzaga University School of Law Armed Forces Law Club (AFLC) (https://www.law.gonzaga.edu/students/student-organizations/armed-forces-law-club/) are hosting a FREE Veterans Law CLE at GU School of Law, Barbieri Courtroom, on June 5th, from 1:00pm to 5:30.
This FREE CLE is WSBA pre-approved for 3.0 credits including 45 minutes of Ethics. This CLE may be used by VA certified attorneys for their periodic certification and reporting requirements. The Veteran's Law CLE will build legal competence and awareness for attorneys who encounter Veterans legal issues. The event will open with a 30-minute panel discussion addressing barriers to success for veterans. Panel members include representatives from Senator Murray's office, Congresswoman McMorris Rodger's Office, Washington State WorkSource, and the Spokane County Veterans Service Office. Three 45-minute sessions of substantive presentation will follow the panel discussion. Presentation topics will include: the preparation and appeal of disability compensation claims for veterans, dependents, and survivors; veterans rights with regard to VA overpayments and resulting collections efforts; and general ethics session. The event will culminate with a short networking event with light snacks and spirits.
